Grand Harbor Weekend
So, we hit the road Saturday morning early and got to the Mississippi River Museum later on in the AM. We toured around looking at fish, crashing barges (dad hit a bridge and a boat!), watching the otters, tried to find frogs, saw some lizards, and watched a small video about how big barges are and where they travel. It would take Uncle Brandon 60 trips to fill 1 barge. He'd better get busy!
I had fun looking at things, I probably had more fun looking at all the people though and laughing at my cousins.
From the museum we went to the hotel. Everyone was excited to get to the water. I was of course clueless until mom put me into that FREEZING WATER! I yelled at her and kicked my feet. It was not fun! Lots of people, too many people, NOISY, and Cold water. I wanted out. I clung to mom's neck and wouldn't let go.
Upstairs we played on the bed, talked to Maddox, and laughed at Paige. I was supposed to take a nap, but all was failed when everyone came upstairs. I was way too interested in what they were doing.
After a short bath and start of the UNI game, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat and watch the game. We all had a lot of fun. Aiden got to watch wrestling, mommy watched a little track, and we all cheered for the Panthers. I jabbered away in the corner and no one could hear me it was so loud in there. I fell asleep on the way there, but was MAD on the way home. I guess mom and dad gave Aunt Jill my bottle to take along, so it wasn't in the car with us and I was HUNGRY, but mostly tired. I cried all the way to the hotel. Grandma Meyer could hardly take it much longer without crying herself.
Once we got inside we finally got me calmed down and soon after to bed. I slept okay, not the best, but okay. I woke mom and dad & grandma and grandpa up a few times. Finally got them up at 6ish to play and hang out with me. Mommy said it was a short night for her.
Sunday:
We got up and most went to the pool. Not me, I wasn't going there again. I ate some mangos and had a HUGE blowout. Mommy and daddy put me in the bathtub to get me clean. It was really weird to get put under the faucet to get my poo washed off. Mommy and daddy were really making a fuss over how bad it stunk. I slept from the way to Perkins almost all the way to Grandma and Grandpa Petersen's. It was a good snooze, but don't know if I "made up" any of my sleep.
We went to Gma & Gpa Petersen's for Oberheu birthday celebrations. Grandpa Petersen's on the 10th, Great-Grandpa Oberheu's on the 15th, and Uncle Brandon's on the 20th of March. I had fun playing with my cousin Emily and Aunt Carol, but before the Hammitts arrived I was cranky and tired. Mom took me for a drive finally and I konked out for an hour or so. When I woke up I was a little happier, but I really just wanted to be home with just mom and dad. I started to get a tickle in my throat again this weekend. Starting to cough more again. Mom keeps coming at me with that blue sucky thing, I HATE it, but she keeps telling me it is for my own good. Yuck!
Well hope you all had a good weekend too. We'll be back "north" the next few weekends too they tell me. Dad is in a dodgeball competition on Saturday and my cousin Maddox gets baptized Saturday afternoon. Then the next week is Easter... sounds like that is going to be a long day too. Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Jump, Jump, Jump Around!
Happy Early Easter Jonah!
Make photo slide shows at www.OneTrueMedia.com
If any of you have seen Jonah within the last month or so you'll already know that his favorite thing to do is JUMP on your lap, on the floor, or anywhere anyone will hold him up so he can.
We've been talking about getting him a jumper like at daycare for a little while and we finally broke down and got him an early Easter present. Much more than we wanted to spend for his first Easter, but it was well worth it after watching him this afternoon.

Our first Springtime walk
It was BEAUTIFUL out today! A whopping 50+ degrees. So despite dad's hangover from the St. Patty's day party last night, we went out for a family walk. Below are a few shots to add to the photo album. I was plenty warm. :-) I started out watching everything, but soon fell asleep. It was a great place to take a nap... I hung out for another hour or so after we got home according to mom.
Enjoy the warm weather!
love, Jonah

Meeting Maddox
This is the 2nd meeting, but more of an official meeting as Jonah didn't really seem to pay much attention to him the last time. He actually moved this time and so Jonah actually noticed him. :-)
Sleeping soundly... for now
Jonah slept from 8pm-5am last night. We were using the music in his room all night, but it didn't seem to help too much, we were still getting up and getting a bottle 2-3 times a night.
Last night he ate an entire container of sweet potatoes, half a container of applesauce (these are the big 4 oz containers), rice cereal, and 3 bites of peas. Btw, he HATES peas. Every time I offered them, he would cry with big croc tears streaming down his face. If I'd switch spoons and dishes right in front of him, they would stop and he'd eat like it was his last meal ever.
So, hopefully he keeps this sleep thing up! It was SO awesome to get a full nights sleep!
Maddox has RSV, so not sure about coming back for the party this weekend. Once a baby has it, it is so much easier for them to get it again. We DON'T want to go down that road again. We are finally healthy! We'll still probably come up though and get the playpen for next weekend's Dubuque trip, so we'll let you all know what our plans are.
Later!

Sleepaholic!
Jonah slept from 4:55pm (on way home) until 6:10pm. Ate a large container of sweet potatoes, 3 oz bottle, and fell asleep AGAIN!
Slept from 6:45 until 8:30pm. I changed his clothes into pjs, gave him another 4 oz, and he went alseep AGAIN!
Slept from 8:45pm until 4:35am! He then got another couple ounces whined in his bed until 4:50 when we all got up for the day. He laid around on mom, then dad, then mom, then dad, then mom while eating another 2 oz bottle before finally getting comfy on mom and falling asleep around 5:40.... I let him lay there until almost 6 when I had to get ready for school. I laid him in bed and he stayed asleep until I started moving him around to get him changed at 6:40. He wasn't very happy with me either for messing with him.
He slept again in the car on the way to school. I'm guessing he doesn't sleep at all today for them... oh well. :-)
Growing??? I think so!
A well rested mom,
Kim

weekend fun

We went back home to Grandma & Grandpa Petersen's on Friday night. We surprised Grandma for supper and spending the night. (I guess mom called her in the afternoon to let her know we'd be coming.) I was super sleepy and slept all the way from daycare home and then all the way to Gma & Gpa's. A good 3 hr nap never hurt anyone, right?
When I woke up I was all smiles. Gma loved that. I played with Uncle Brandon, Grandma, & Grandpa while they made supper and I ate my sweet potatoes. YUM! It was getting "late" by my routine, but I was a trooper and I had taken such a long nap. So I hung out a little longer and tried to grab everything on mommy's plate when she finally got to eat.
I took a bath with mom in Gma's big whirlpool tub. She was wearing a funny thing called a swim suit. I guess I have some that are pretty snazy. Blue with fishies on them... I can't wait to wear them soon. It was lots of fun to be in that much water. I heard Mom and Gma talking about how this is my trial run for our family trip to Dubuque in a few weekends. I also slept in my Gma's playpen, after I had my tummy full though. The mesh on the sides was cool too feel while I went to sleep.
On Saturday I went to see Great Grandma & Grandpa Meyer and then to Gma & Gpa's house for lunch and fun with Paige. We went around to deliver Chuckwagon tapes and I took a great nap. We stopped by to visit Jon & Tiffany and then Aunt Jill & family. I met my younger cousin Maddox a little more formally than last time. He was so sleepy last time, this time he was super cranky and I wanted to touch him, but no one would let me. They kept saying things like "be nice." I'm a pretty nice guy I think, why did they have to keep reminding me?
We finally came home around supper time and I got to sleep in my own bed, which was AWESOME! I like sleeping in my own bed and so do mom and dad.
Well, talk to you all later!

shapecollage.com

I found this free software while doing searches for school and thought I'd play with it in a personal way. :-)
I put 394 pictures of Jonah (birth-now) in it and I got this outcome. You can make the pictures into anything you want, I chose his name. You probably won't be able to see all the pics on here since I had to make it smaller to put it on here, but they are all of him. I'll show you the actual collage if you really want to see it. FUN!

Baby food at daycare
Today is our first day of baby food at daycare. He only ate a few bites of carrots and 1 oz of milk this morning.
He ate 1 Tbsp of cereal and 2 Tbsp of sweet potatoes for lunch today. He was really good they said and didn't make a mess at all.
My little boy is growing up!
Kim
- huge bonus to him eating foods, less formula consumption... baby food is MUCH cheaper!

Unplugged! and staying asleep?
Peaches are a great fruit! Problem is, we don't have anymore fruits here in the house. I thought we bought some the other day, but we got carrots! Fiberous, but not as great at the fruit!
no, you may not care about my son's bowel movements as much as I/we do... but this is a journal of his life and you are the one looking on. Oh well. :-)
Just curious if others have any advice for getting a little boy to go back to sleep once he wakes 1, 2, 3, or 4 times in a night? I don't think he's hungry, I just think he doesn't know how to go back to sleep. Last night we let him fuss for about half an hour. He doesn't "cry" just whine. Finally Josh went in and laid his hand on him for about 5 min and he was asleep for the rest of the night/morning. Do we just let him figure it out? (and get little sleep as well), do we rush to his aid and soothe him? (giving him a crutch), or do we try a mixture of both and then how do we know what to do when? Advice welcome!
(PS- I don't want to hear about kids who slept through the night at 3 wks or something obsured like that,... those stories are just depressing, not helpful!)

Lots of Baby food...
He's in LOVE with sweet potatoes, applesauce, and peaches.
He likes carrots and pears.
He HATES green beans and rice cereal/oatmeal cereal.
He is having all kinds of fun eating baby food. He still loves his bottle though. :-) We've switched to the fast flow bottle, which goes so much faster and he seems so much more happy with it too. He also has moved from eating "1s" to "2s" jars/containers of baby food. The 1s have 2.5 oz and the 2s have 4 oz.
He's been eating foods in the AM after a small bottle, at lunch time, and again at the end of the night before his bath. We don't always get 3 helpings in, but this weekend we have. Is that too much? The only time he's eaten the entire 2 jar was Sunday at noon. He just kept going on the sweet potatoes. :-)
Along with eating the foods he has had the pooping issues. What goes in must come out, but he's having trouble getting it out. On Saturday he didn't poop at all and on Sunday he only had 1 turd, a hard one. About the size of a smashed half dollar. He hasn't been fussy, except for at night... and I don't think it is entirely from the foods. He still coughs at night.
