No MORE MULLET!!

Mom got tired of my mullet tonight and came at me with the scissors. I was in the bathtub, so I didn't really pay much attention to her. I guess it is kind of crooked and she says she is going to fix it in the morning. We'll see if I allow that.
Dad says I look way different. He was a little disappointed to not see the cutting, but not mad. Mommy kept my clippings and wrote it all down in the baby book.

Enjoy the pics, NO MORE MULLET!!

Things I'm NOT Supposed to Do

Things You aren't supposed to do....

Like climb on the table and bang on the window.....

Climb up on the lawnmower.... don't have a pic of his most dangerous trick, climbing into the steering wheel, I'm almost always standing over him waiting to catch him....

opening the shower curtain on dad... always has to find him in the AM......

Take the garbage out of the garbage can.. YUCKY!..........

There are many more, too many that I don't have a pic for...

unrolling the toilet paper roll
playing in the toilet water
(bathroom door stays shut now pretty much 100% of the time)
climbing on furniture
emptying all containers or drawers in the house that he can reach

the list goes on and on...

Bedtime Routine

I think we've finally found a bedtime routine that works with no tears. :-)
We take a bath, play and hang out, go to the bedroom around 7:30 to read books. I start the lullaby cd when we sit down to read and then depending on how tired he is we read from 7:30-8ish. We always stop at or right before 8 and end with the same book.
The music is still playing, he cuddles up on my shoulder, I rub his back and tell him how much I love him. We move towards the bed, I turn out the light, give him lots of kisses as I lay him down. Say good night, one last kiss. I give him his teddy and cover him (the fan is on for circulation and sometimes he gets cold). He rolls over and I walk out the door.

The last 2 nights we've been great! Now that I've posted this though I'm sure I'm jinxing it.

1st Year Come and Gone...

From coming home from the hospital......

to eating our first birthday cake....

Life has been a whirlwind this past year!

Where has the time gone!

Our little boy is a whole year old. We had quite the party on Saturday. Jonah got lots of great presents and had SO MUCH FUN running around with his cousins. THANK YOU to everyone for making it such a special day.
Enjoy the pics from the great day.
He had a cake on his bday. (a cupcake really, from our neighbor across the street)

Then he had a baseball cake on Saturday. Wasn't much of a fan of the frosting. Made a mess though.

This was a cake for everyone else. He was much more interested in that one than his. :-)

Happy Birthday little man! We are so blessed to have you in our lives. We can remember life before you, but we wouldn't trade anything for those days now.
LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

Sleeping Issues

We have some sleeping issues in our house the last few months. Jonah for the longest time wasn't going to sleep at night. Now we've got that fairly under control.
He was also getting up early in the AM. He's started to sleep in somewhat, going from 5:30 to 6:30, sometimes we even get 7. The hardest part for us to get under control is nap time.

Naps were two times a day, morning around 9 and afternoon around 1/1:30. At daycare he gets rocked to sleep after a bottle, at home with dad he gets rocked to sleep and either held or laid on the floor. I was doing this too until recently. We weren't able to lay him down anymore. Not good for either one of us. He doesn't get any deep sleep and I get nothing accomplished around the house.

We've gone to the cry it out method in his crib for the last week now. Night time as I mentioned above has gone much smoother, in combination with an earlier bedtime. He only cries for max of 15 minutes, last night it was less than 5.

Today I've tried just going with 1 nap. He was super sleepy all morning, fussy, clinging to me, rubbing his eyes and I tried to rock him at 3 different times at 9:10, 9:45, and 10:00 but he would always push away. So we went outside and he played while I did some gardening.

We came in for lunch at 11:15, I made him one of his fav meals and he was rubbing his eyes so much and fussing that we just put the meal in the fridge, made a bottle, and sat down to drink it. He was practically falling asleep while drinking the bottle. He was almost asleep when I laid him down in his crib at 11:30. 1:00 I go in to calm him down because he's been screaming the whole time. Somewhere around 12:30 he started to quiet down, but it was useless, you could tell by listening at his door he was still standing and crying.

I went in and rocked him for 20 min, as soon as I started to move my arms or attempt to stand he was up and crying again afraid that I was going to put him in his bed. I sat back down, attempted to rock again and he was pushing away and whimpering. After about 5 min of fighting with him to hold him and rock I gave him a hug and a kiss, put him in his bed, and walked out. Cried a few tears and am now writing this.

My husband isn't a fan or supporter of this method. My facebook friends and family are the only ones who have told me to keep it up, it's getting harder and harder everyday to keep going. I feel like a horrible mom as I write this and my child is screaming in the other room.
I don't know what to do anymore. He won't rock and he won't sleep.

He is petrified of his bedroom and even more of his crib. Even walking into the room with him at any point in the day and he starts to fuss, whine, and crawl over your shoulder. I hate that he feels that way. It should be a calming and safe place.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

Life at 11 months and more

This post is for Kelsi and Amanda.... it isn't everything I had written down at home, but what I could think of sitting and waiting for the showers last night at 11:30pm..... more to come when I get home. :-)

loves to climb (anything and EVERYTHING)

- walking on hands and feet, no more knees

- cruises along anything he can, starting to get braver and go 2-3 ft between objects when standing

- won’t eat anymore babyfood or anything on a spoon for that matter

- throws lots of food to the L side when done eating it

- very Left hand oriented

- doesn’t like pools, but likes to splash in puddles and buckets

- sings himself to sleep, kind of a LOUD hum (when rocked)

- eating 8-10 oz at a time now in a bottle

- still hasn’t forgiven us for taking away the paci at night

- smiles at just about anything when he’s comfortable

- goofy grins

- when he wakes up cranky, usually happy again after a few snacks or ounces

- loves the wagon rides around the neighborhood

- won’t sit in a shopping cart anymore, wants to stand in the big part- climbs out of the seated part

- drinking from a sippy cup, but still prefers a bottle and not everything stays in his mouth when using a sippy cup

- Old McDonald is his favorite song

- Dances when he hears music

- Waves when he sees others wave

- Likes to say “dog,” Maam, (blowing bubbles) and dada
