Babymoon- Friday

Today we got up super early and went out to Keenland Racetrack to watch the morning workouts for a couple hours and even walked around in the back to see the barns and morning functions of a race track. Josh was pretty amazed. It was hard to peel him away from the rail. :-)

Then we went back to our complimentary hotel room (THANKS AGAIN aunt Annette for your connections!!!!!) for breakfast and showers. We packed up and headed out for the Kentucky Horsepark and even though we thought the TomTom was nuts, it got us there. We went to the park for awhile, saw a lot of cool displays in their International Horse Museum and saw the sights there. We ate lunch in the picnic area on the park grounds and then went back in for a little more sight seeing. We wandered around the Events Area and popped into an Arabian Horse Show and then to the Jumping Arena where we watched some kids and adults compete in some English style jumping competitions.

We wandered around a little longer before heading to the front of the park for our Unigue Farm Van Tour. We went to 3 farms to see 3 of the 4 stages in horse life in Kentucky. We stopped at WinStar to see the Stallions and the breeding barn. There were some famous names out there, Distorted Humor (father of Funnycide), Bluegrass Cat (has Secretariot, Seattle Slew, and Northern Dancer all in his pedigree) Tiznow, Spring at Last and another we can't remember. Then we went to Cuttoff Cole to see some mama's and babies. We got to see a few 3 day old colts and a few older ones in the pasture. They were very willing to let us pet them (if we had some oats or grass). :-) Our last stop was at Hillside Hall (or something like that) to see a few more studs and a 1.5 million dollar straight training track that they had put in. It is a straight, about 8 ft wide, synthetic track, that goes up hill with turn arounds on both ends. Apparently there are a lot these in Europe. Interesting...

After our day in Lexington and at the Horsepark we drove to Louisville to our next hotelroom and a night of supper and relaxation. I got some more classwork done and just chilled with my husband. It was great! We got a discount on our room again b/c of Aunt Annette's connections! (THANKS AGAIN!!!) It was a little loud, but I had an earplug so I slept like a baby. Josh had a hard time sleeping.
